Working... maybe
After my red rings problem someone in another league suggested I do the towel trick (check it on youtube if you haven't heard of it) I decided to give it a shot, and unbelievably my xbox is working - at least for the moment. I'm going to try and play like this until I get something figured out. I've played a franchise game and am running smoothly online when I couldn't even get the dashboard this afternoon and tonight before I got desperate enough to try it. I'm going to play a ranked game or 2 before I play anyone in league, but hopefully if I see you in the next couple of days we can play.
I'll keep you updated.

Re: Working... maybe
It does work. I'm on my 3rd Xbox already. But before I got my 3rd I tried the towel trick on the 2nd one. It works like a charm. Just hope your xbox doesn't start a fire.. Cuz it get's pretty damn hot during the process.

Re: Working... maybe
When you get the RROD, take off the hard drive, unplug the video connector from the back of the 360 and leave the power cable connected.
Turn on your Xbox and wrap 4-5 towels around it nice and tight. Go do something for 30 minutes and come back, the 360 should be really hot. (really really hot)
Now, let it cool down for another 30 minutes or so and come back , plug everything back in and turn it on.
If you did it right, it should turn back on and work. This should work for a couple of weeks if you keep getting the RROD. But don't count on it to work forever.
